Spello, nestled on the southern flank of Mount Subasio, between Assisi and Foligno, in the region of Umbria, is part of the club of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" due to its significant environmental, cultural and artistic heritage. 🌳🍝🍷🎨

Latin poet Propertius called Spello ‘Splendidissima Colonia Iulia’, or very splendid. It is famous for being one of the prettiest villages in Italy and one of the most flowery. 💐

Its meandering medieval streets are a triumph of verdant balconies and colorful flowers, and the town also hosts a significant flower event called "infiorata", which is world famous.

It is a beautiful town to visit for an afternoon or lunch and is ideal for photographers, foodies and anyone looking for a quintessentially Italian village stop. 🇮🇹

FOTO FRIDAY! 🇮🇹 Meet Renee! She joined the Son`s of Italy Drum and Bugle Corp out of Haverhill, MA at just 8 years old. Growing up in the Drum Corp and the Victor Emanuel Lodge #1646, her passion for Italian culture, heritage and our great organization continued to flourish. In 2019, Renee became the first female President of the Drum and Bugle Corp, and in 2020 she became the youngest President of her lodge. She also served as the financial secretary and event coordinator, and is now the chair of the membership committee for the Grand Lodge of MA. As a young mom, she started her career early in the construction industry and is now the proud owner of Chaos Coordinators, a consulting, management and coaching business with a niche in construction.

"What does being Italian mean to me?":
The biggest thing for me is Family. Joining the SOI Drum and Bugle Corp so young gave me an extended Italian Family to be a part of. It was something special that my dad and I were able to share together, as well as my daughter. Sunday dinners at Grammy Josies was the one day we would all be able to get together. No matter what was going on, we always had our Sunday dinners! Being Italian is being able to share the traditions I was taught and raised with, with the next generations. It is keeping my family`s culture and heritage going, sharing memories and building new ones.
